A portion of “Game of Thrones‘” fifth season will shoot in several natural locations in the province of Seville, Andalusia, HBO announced Wednesday.
Peter Welter Soler’s Fresco Film Services will provide production services in Spain. The Andalusia Film Commission, Seville Film Office and Osuna Film Office will support the filming, which will take place later in 2014.
The announcement confirms an observation made in late May by James Costas, the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and a former HBO VP of global licensing and retail, that the U.S. pay TV giant was in “firm negotiations” with the Andalusia Film Commission to find locations in Spain.
Exact locations will be confirmed closer to the time of production, HBO said Wednesday. That will do nothing to stem speculation about which locations will be used for what setting of “Game of Thrones,” which will visit Oberyn Martell’s native Dorne in season 5.
